I struggled so badly trying to make head or tail of the Russian alphabet, particularly on the metro. I evolved a technique which involved going one stop, getting off and trying to identify the name of the station to see if it was going in the right direction. Sometimes it worked really well but it meant that I spent so much time deciding whether I was going the right way that I didn't have any time to take pictures of Moscow's magnificent metro stations.
